How to Make an Origami Crane | Step-by-Step Guide

Crane has a very special place in origami art. According to a rumor, if you make 1000 origami cranes, your wish will be granted :) This is of course a difficult number to complete, but we can start with the first origami crane! In this step-by-step guide, you’ll learn how to make your own origami crane. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced Origami folder, I am sure you will have a great time. Let’s fold it!


Paper size: 20×20 cm

Step 1: Let’s start by taking a square origami paper. We used 20×20 cm long paper. You can use different sizes of paper.
If you don’t have square paper, follow these instructions to make a square sheet of paper.

Step 2: Fold the top left corner down, then fold the top right corner down. sharpen the folds with your hand or nail.

Step 3: Fold the paper in half horizontally and vertically, respectively, as shown in the animation.

Step 4: Position the paper as shown. Fold the right and left parts inward. Make sure the shape is formed by pressing from above with your hand.

Step 5: Fold the bottom right edge, aligning it with the line in the middle. Do the same for the left side. Then fold the top.

Step 6: Turn the paper over. Apply the folds in Step 5. Right, left and top!

Step 7: Unroll the origami paper as shown. Push the paper up and fold the right and left sides inward. Go over the folds using your fingernail

Step 8: The paper turns over.

Step 9: Repeat the folds you made in step 7.

Step 10: Fold the front side up. Turn the paper over and fold the other side up.

Step 11: These folds will form the neck and tail of the crane.These folds will form the neck and tail of the crane. Fold the right and left sections inwards as shown. You can also determine the neck and tail angles of the crane yourself.

Step 12: Almost done :) Fold the origami crane head as shown.
